History
Renta 4 was created in 1986 as one of the first independent (not linked to banking or industrial groups) investment service companies in Spain. Initially, the company began activities as a Treasury Delegate Entity, giving retail investors access to Treasury bonds.
In 1989, after the approval of the Securities Market Law, the group became a licensed Securities and Exchange participant, and was the first company to be registered as such by the National Securities Market Commission. This led to Renta 4 setting up a network of offices throughout Spain to bring investment in the Stock Market and other financial markets closer to investors wherever they are.
In 1991, Renta 4 created its own fund management division, “Renta 4 Gestora”.
In 1997, Renta 4 created “Renta 4 Pensiones”, the Renta 4 Pension Fund Management Company, which has received numerous awards for its products.
In 1999, Renta 4 launched one of the first online investment platforms in Spain, facilitating access for all types of savers to a wide range of investment assets.
In 2004, Renta 4 Corporate was created and two years later, in 2006, the entity acquired Gesdinco and Padinco.
In 2007, Renta 4 went public on the Spanish stock market, the first company in the investment services sector to do so.
In 2012 it began to operate as a full-service Bank, but maintaining its specialization in banking services related to investments.
In 2013, international expansion began in Chile with “Renta 4 Corredores de Bolsa, SA”, which continued in 2013 with the opening of offices in Peru (Renta 4 Sociedad Agent de Bolsa) and in Colombia (Renta 4 Global Fiduciaria), with the same philosophy of promoting investment in the region.
In 2016, the Luxembourg Fund Management area was created and the first fund in Latin America was launched, the MILA Fund.
In 2020, the Renta 4 Wealth website was developed, for clients that require tailored solutions to needs that are usually more complex than those of a retail client.
