Reasons for Field Survey

The Japanese foreign exchange market is one of the world's most important forex trading markets, boasting a long history, a mature financial system, and strict regulatory mechanisms. It holds a crucial position in the global forex market. With numerous participants and high trading activity, it is subject to strict oversight by regulatory agencies such as the Financial Services Agency of Japan, ensuring the market's standardized operation. To help investors gain a more comprehensive understanding of the actual operations of forex dealers in the region, the field research team conducted an on-site visit to Japan.

Field Survey Process

This issue's field research team traveled to Japan as planned to conduct an on-site visit to the forex broker CIBC. Publicly available information indicates its office address is 15th Floor, Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, 6-10-1 Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan. Dedicated to ensuring stringent investor scrutiny, the professional and experienced field research team compiled information about the address in advance and developed a thorough field research plan. Based on the publicly available address information, they then conducted a comprehensive on-site inspection of CIBC.

Based on the address information, the field research team traveled to the Roppongi area of Tokyo. The target address, Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, is a renowned, high-end office building. Upon arrival, the field research team observed the building from the outside. Due to the unobstructed view from the building's exterior, they were able to capture panoramic photos of the building and its surroundings. However, no CIBC logo or related information was found on the exterior.

The field research team then entered the first-floor lobby through the building's main entrance. Upon entering, they noted the standard security measures and explained to the on-site staff their purpose for conducting an on-site inspection of the forex broker's operations. During their conversation with the staff, the surveyors noticed the floor sign in the lobby. After careful inspection, they discovered that it clearly indicated CIBC's occupancy on the 15th floor.

The surveyors had planned to proceed to the 15th floor to further verify CIBC's specific office location. However, upon contacting the staff regarding access to the floor, they learned that the building's security was strict and that access to specific floors required advance reservations. Since the survey team had not made an appointment in advance, they were unable to obtain access to the 15th floor and were unable to confirm CIBC's specific office location on that floor. Furthermore, without access to the floor, the surveyors were unable to enter CIBC's office space or photograph its reception desk or logo. 

Based on the building's overall layout and management practices, the address does not appear to be a shared office. Furthermore, although they were unable to enter the office, based on the building's overall positioning, industry standards, and publicly available information about CIBC's office environment, they concluded that its internal office environment met luxury standards. Based on the above on-site observations, the publicly available information shows that CIBC's presence is clearly indicated on the floor sign at Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, 6-10-1 Roppongi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan. This indicates that CIBC has established a presence at the aforementioned address.

Therefore, our on-site inspection confirmed the presence of CIBC at the aforementioned address.

Field Survey Summary

The surveyors visited CIBC as planned and observed the broker's company name and logo displayed prominently at the publicly shown business address, indicating the physical presence of the broker's business. Investors are advised to take all factors into consideration before making a decision.
