Reason for this visit

The international forex market in Hong Kong has been developing since the 1970s. Due to the removal of forex control in Hong Kong since 1973, there has been a large inflow of international capital, and an increasing number of financial institutions operating forex business have mushroomed. The forex market has become more and more active, developing into an international forex market. Hong Kong forex market is an invisible market without a fixed trading venue. Traders conduct forex transactions through various modern communication facilities and computer networks. Hong Kong’s geographical location and time zone conditions are similar to those of Singapore, making it very convenient to trade with other international forex markets. Participants in Hong Kong forex market are mainly commercial banks and financial companies. There are three types of forex brokers in this market: local brokers, whose business is limited to Hong Kong; international brokers who have expanded their business to the Hong Kong forex market since the 1970s; international brokers that grow locally and has expanded their business to forex markets abroad. In an attempt to help investors or practitioners gain a more comprehensive understanding of current status of forex brokers in Hong Kong, WikiFX survey team plans to pay on-site visits to local companies.

On-site visit

In this issue, the survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit forex broker CFKAB as planned according to its regulatory address that 30/F, Chinachem Century Square, 178 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

The seasoned and professional inspection team, committed to safeguarding investor interests, conducted a meticulously planned on-site verification of the broker CFKAB in Chinachem Century Square at 178 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai.

The investigators successfully arrived at Chinachem Century Square based on the provided information. The office building is located in the bustling Wan Chai district, surrounded by dense pedestrian traffic and a vibrant commercial atmosphere. The exterior of the building is clearly visible, with an overall ordinary streetscape and surrounding area.

No information related to CFKAB was found outside the building. To complete the inspection thoroughly, the team proceeded into the building lobby for further verification. Access to the lobby was unobstructed. Inside, the primary task was to check the company directory. After carefully reviewing the floor directory, it was confirmed that “GETTA” was listed on the 30th floor. Notably, no dedicated company logo was observed either inside or outside the lobby.

For a more comprehensive understanding, the team took the elevator directly to the 30th floor. Upon arrival, the floor signage was clear and well-directed, allowing the inspectors to easily locate the company entrance. On the 30th floor, it appeared that the space was primarily occupied by the target company. Crucially, through direct communication with the front desk staff, a key discovery was made: the company name has now been changed to “GETTA”. The front desk further clarified that the former entities “CFKAB” and “KAB Finance” had previously operated at this address but have since been consolidated under the new name, GETTA. This rebranding was the core finding of the inspection.

Additionally, the investigators successfully photographed the front desk area and its signage, documenting the current brand identity. Although access to the internal office space was not granted, the observable areas suggested a modest level of interior decoration.

Through the on-site investigation, it is confirmed that the broker maintains a physical presence at the above address.

Conclusion

The survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit broker CFKAB as scheduled and found the company at its regulatory address. It signifies that the broker has a physical office at the place. Meanwhile, investors are advised to make a well-considered decision following much deliberation.
