Reason for this visit

The international forex market in Hong Kong has been developing since the 1970s. Due to the removal of forex control in Hong Kong since 1973, there has been a large inflow of international capital, and an increasing number of financial institutions operating forex business have mushroomed. The forex market has become more and more active, developing into an international forex market. Hong Kong forex market is an invisible market without a fixed trading venue. Traders conduct forex transactions through various modern communication facilities and computer networks. Hong Kongs geographical location and time zone conditions are similar to those of Singapore, making it very convenient to trade with other international forex markets. Participants in Hong Kong forex market are mainly commercial banks and financial companies. There are three types of forex brokers in this market: local brokers, whose business is limited to Hong Kong; international brokers who have expanded their business to the Hong Kong forex market since the 1970s; international brokers that grow locally and has expanded their business to forex markets abroad. In an attempt to help investors or practitioners gain a more comprehensive understanding of current status of forex brokers in Hong Kong, WikiFX survey team determines to pay on-site visits to local companies.

On-site visit

In this issue, the survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit broker Allianz as planned according to its regulatory address that 32/F, Two Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Admiralty, Hong Kong.

A seasoned and professional inspection team, committed to safeguarding investor interests, conducted a meticulously planned on-site verification of the prominent forex broker Allianz at 88 Queensway in Admiralty, Hong Kong.

Two Pacific Place is located in Hong Kongs Admiralty financial and business district, surrounded by dense pedestrian traffic and a vibrant commercial atmosphere. The area integrates upscale office buildings, shopping malls, restaurants, and residential buildings. The building in question is a Grade A office tower featuring convenient transportation and comprehensive surrounding amenities, meeting the location standards of international financial institutions.

Upon arriving at the target address, the inspection team first observed the buildings exterior. Two Pacific Place is a modern glass-curtain-walled structure with a clean and distinctive appearance.

After entering the building, the inspectors checked the directory in the lobby, which clearly listed “ALLIANZ GLOBAL INVESTORS ASIA GMBH” on the 32nd floor—consistent with the registered name “Allianz Investment.” They then proceeded to the 32nd floor via elevator, where the floor directory further displayed “Allianz Global Investors,” providing dual verification of the companys registered details.

The inspection team successfully accessed the 32nd-floor office area but were not granted entry into the companys premises. From the open entrance, they observed a prominently displayed “Allianz Global Investors” logo and company name at the reception desk, along with dedicated meeting rooms. The reception area featured a sleek and professional design, aligning with the image of an international financial institution. Although deeper access to the workspace was restricted, no signs of co-working spaces were found in the common areas, confirming that the floor is exclusively occupied by Allianz Global Investors.

Through the on-site investigation, it is confirmed that Allianz maintains a physical presence at the above address.

Conclusion

The survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit broker Allianz as scheduled and found the company at its regulatory address. It denotes that the broker has a physical office at the place. Meanwhile, investors are advised to make a well-considered decision following much deliberation.
