Purpose

The Hong Kong foreign exchange market is an important international forex market that developed after World War II. With its efficient financial system and sound regulatory framework, it has become one of the key hubs for global forex trading. To help investors or practitioners gain a more comprehensive understanding of forex brokers in the region, the onsite investigation team conducted a field visit to Hong Kong.

Process

This time, the survey team went to Hong Kong, China to visit the forex broker UNOCAL as planned. According to public information, its office address is FLAT/RM B5/F GAYLORD COMMERCIAL, BUILDING 114 - 118 LOCKHART ROAD Hong Kong.

Professional and experienced on-site inspection team, with a sense of mission to strictly guard investors, followed a meticulous plan and went to Hong Kong, China. They conducted an on-site verification of the broker UNOCAL, which claims to be located at FLAT/RM B5/F GAYLORD COMMERCIAL,BUILDING114 - 118 LOCKHART ROAD Hong Kong.

The on-site inspectors arrived smoothly at the target building, which is located in a bustling area of Hong Kong with a strong commercial atmosphere. However, no company signage or related information of the broker was found outside the building.

The inspectors entered the lobby of the building and stated their purpose to the security guard. After brief communication, they obtained permission to enter the building.

After arriving at the target floor, the 5th floor, the inspectors found no clear signage for UNOCAL's office area, nor any corresponding security measures. Since the specific office location of the company was not found, the inspectors could not enter the interior, and could not take photos of the front desk and its logo. The office area is not a shared office.

The inspectors tried to obtain some information about the company through the public area of the floor, but did not observe any internal environment, decoration style, or employee activities related to the broker. The overall situation does not match its claimed office address. After inquiring with the building security guard, the guard informed that there was no such company. After arriving, they confirmed the address, but found no information about the broker, and judged it to be false.

Therefore, after the on-site inspection, it was confirmed that broker UNOCAL does not exist at the above address.

Conclusion

The survey team went to Hong Kong, China as planned to visit forex broker UNOCAL. At its publicly displayed business address, they could not see the broker's company name or other information, indicating that the broker does not have a real business location. Investors are advised to make their decision after comprehensive consideration.
