The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) is the single regulator of financial services in Malta established on 23 July 2002 through the Act of Parliament (Chapter 330 of the Laws of Malta). MFSA’s main functions are the protection of consumers, integrity of financial markets, financial stability and the supervision of all financial services activities,which include banking, financial institutions, payment institutions, insurance companies and insurance intermediaries, investment services companies and collective investment schemes, securities markets, recognised investment exchanges, trust management companies, company services providers and pension schemes. MFSA also holds an advisory role to Government in the formulation of policies on matters relating to the financial services industry.

MFSA Warning - MarketsFX – Unlicensed Exchange MARCH 18, 2020 Share The Malta Financial Services Authority (“MFSA” or “the Authority”) has become aware of an entity operating by the name MarketsFX which has an internet presence at https://marketsfx.it/ and https://marketsfx.com/. The entity claims to be a “financial services provider, offering a selection of more than 1,000 financial assets, such as currency pairs, stocks, commodities, indices and to traders from all around the globe”. The MFSA wishes to alert the public, in Malta and abroad, that MarketsFX is NOT a Maltese registered Company NOR licensed or otherwise authorised by the MFSA to provide the service of an exchange or other financial services which are required to be licensed or otherwise authorised under Maltese law. Furthermore, information available to the MFSA, including the warning issued by the Italian Regulator CONSOB dated 14 October 2019, suggests that MarketsFX is likely to be a scheme of dubious nature with a high risk of loss of money. The public should therefore refrain from undertaking any business or transactions with the above-mentioned entity. The MFSA would like to remind consumers of financial services not to enter into any financial services transaction unless they have ascertained that the entity with whom the transaction is being made is authorised to provide such services by the MFSA or another reputable financial services regulator. Investors should also be extra cautious when being approached with offers of financial services via unconventional channels such as telephone calls or social media.
