FxPro has expanded its weekend trading offering to five major CFD markets, giving clients access to gold, silver, WTI crude oil, natural gas and the Nasdaq index beyond the traditional trading week.
The move reflects a broader shift among retail trading platforms as brokers compete to keep clients active even when conventional financial markets are closed. FxPro said its new products, branded GOLD365, SILVER365, WTI365, NAT.GAS365 and NDX365, are available through its Standard account on MetaTrader 5 and the FxPro application.
The development addresses a growing problem for traders: financial news does not stop when markets close on Friday. Geopolitical developments, elections, government announcements and unexpected economic events can all emerge during the weekend, leaving investors unable to adjust conventional positions until markets reopen.
That gap can become particularly significant when a major event occurs between the Friday close and Monday open. Prices can move sharply when trading resumes, creating conditions in which investors face substantial changes before they have an opportunity to react.
Weekend CFDs are designed to provide another option. Instead of waiting for conventional markets to reopen, traders can respond to developments during the weekend through products specifically created for extended trading.
FxPro is not alone in pursuing the opportunity. Vantage introduced round the clock gold CFD trading in July, while CMC Markets began offering weekend gold trading earlier in the year. XM also expanded gold CFD access to seven days a week in August. The competitive focus is now moving beyond gold towards commodities and equity indices.
Yet greater access also brings greater complexity. Weekend markets are not simply extensions of normal weekday trading. Liquidity can be thinner, spreads can change according to market conditions and maximum transaction sizes can differ from those available during conventional sessions.
FxPro also states that positions opened through the weekend products can move automatically into corresponding weekday products once normal markets resume. Investors therefore need to understand how the transition works, including pricing, margin requirements and other trading conditions.
The expansion comes as activity at FxPro UK remains substantial. The company's 2025 annual report showed trading volume of about US$87 billion, an increase of 7 percent from the previous year. The company attributed stronger trading activity partly to geopolitical tensions and elevated market volatility.
For Malaysian traders, the rise of weekend CFDs is particularly relevant because global developments can affect markets before Bursa Malaysia or other conventional venues reopen. Gold, oil and US equity markets are widely followed by Malaysian retail investors, meaning weekend
