Forex broker GODO has secured regulatory licences in Cyprus and South Africa as it accelerates its expansion into major international markets. The broker is also awaiting final approval for a Category 1 licence from the UAEs Capital Markets Authority (CMA).
Founded in 2021 by former AvaTrade executives Mohamed Ahmed and Ebie Alex, GODO initially operated through godofx.com before rebranding and moving to its current website, godocm.com.
The company has historically operated through a Mauritius registered entity. Its expansion into more tightly regulated markets marks a significant shift towards building a broader, multi jurisdiction financial services group.
On 14 May 2026, GODO Capital Ltd, the companys Cyprus subsidiary, was granted a Cyprus Investment Firm licence by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), under licence number 466/26.
The company said its Cyprus operation is currently being prepared for launch. This includes establishing banking arrangements, building its compliance and operational infrastructure, and recruiting a local team.
GODO has also launched godocapital.com for its CySEC regulated business, which it plans to use to serve clients across the European Union.
On 4 May 2026, its South African subsidiary, GODO Financial Services (Pty) Ltd, received a licence from the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).
The group has also received preliminary approval from the UAE CMA for a Category 1 licence. The company is currently working through the remaining regulatory requirements before final approval can be granted.
GODO chief executive Mohamed Ahmed said obtaining the CySEC licence represents an important milestone in the companys five year strategy to develop into an internationally regulated financial services group.
He added that the new Cyprus licence, together with the South African approval and ongoing work in the UAE, brings the company closer to its international expansion plans.
The latest developments suggest that GODO is seeking to move beyond its traditional markets in the Arab, Persian and Far Eastern regions and establish a wider international presence supported by multiple regulatory jurisdictions.
For traders, however, the addition of regulatory licences in different markets does not automatically mean that every GODO entity offers the same level of protection. Investors should verify the specific legal entity holding their account and the regulator responsible for that entity before depositing funds.
