XTB Tests Chile Again, Launches Spot Crypto with 46 Assets

WikiFX

Abstract:XTB has launched spot cryptocurrency trading in Chile with 46 crypto assets, making it the first non-European market to receive the product. The Warsaw-listed broker is using Chile as a testing ground, following its AI chat debut there just two weeks earlier. European expansion is underway with Cyprus already live and Spain expected by end-2026, while Poland remains stuck in a regulatory deadlock after three presidential vetoes.

Warsaw-listed fintech XTB has launched spot cryptocurrency trading in Chile, making the South American nation its first market outside Europe to receive the product. The rollout comes just over two weeks after the broker debuted its AI-powered analytical chat in the same country, reinforcing Chile's role as XTB's preferred testing ground.

Chilean clients can now trade 46 crypto assets around the clock, seven days a week, with a minimum transaction of just US$2. XTB plans to expand the selection as the service matures.

A Regulatory Path Poland Could Not Offer

XTB's launch was enabled by Chile's Fintech Law 21.521, which brought crypto assets and custody of financial instruments into the regulated perimeter. The broker's local entity, XTB Agente de Valores SpA, is registered under number 216 in the securities agents register of the Financial Market Commission (CMF) and serves clients who opened accounts since 2 July 2025.

The contrast with XTB's home market is stark. Poland's President Karol Nawrocki vetoed successive versions of the crypto-assets bill in December 2025, February 2026, and June 2026, leaving the country without domestic legislation under the EU's MiCA framework. If the deadlock persists, XTB may route spot crypto to Polish investors through its MiCA-licensed Cypriot subsidiary.

Chile as a Repeat Testing Ground

XTB obtained its securities agent licence from the CMF in February 2025, its first regulatory approval in Latin America. The AI chat arrived in late July 2026, and spot crypto followed within a fortnight.

According to XTB's help centre, purchased cryptocurrencies cannot be transferred outside the application. The platform does not offer staking or governance rights, and no custody commission is charged.

European Expansion Underway

CEO Omar Arnaout confirmed the spot crypto offering will reach European markets in the coming months. Cyprus was first, with XTB securing CySEC authorisation in late 2025 and launching spot crypto for local clients in H1 2026 with more than 35 assets. Spain is expected to follow before end-2026.

Strong Financial Backing

The expansion rides on robust results. XTB Group reported a preliminary consolidated net profit of 1,027.2 million zlotys for H1 2026, up 150.5% year-on-year, on operating revenue of 2,086.6 million zlotys.

As of 30 June 2026, the broker's client base reached 2.83 million, with 1.49 million active clients and client assets of 50,300 million zlotys. CFDs on commodities contributed 75.3% of the gross result on financial instruments, indices 13.9%, and forex including cryptocurrencies 5%.

Crypto Demand Driving Strategy

XTB cited a 2024 survey by the Polish Association of Individual Investors, which found 22% of Polish investors held crypto assets, rising to 31.4% among those aged 18 to 25.

With Chile live, Cyprus operational, and Spain on the roadmap, XTB is building its spot crypto footprint while its home market remains in legislative limbo.
