Luno Review: Unregulated Broker Warning After Frozen Accounts and Blocked Withdrawals

WikiFX | 2026-08-06 14:00

Abstract:Critical warning: Luno has no verified financial regulation on record, a WikiFX score of 1.78, and multiple user reports describing frozen accounts and blocked withdrawals. Traders reported large USDT balances being withheld after tax or penalty demands, while complaints also allege name-changing activity linked to ELLIPAL.

A trader said the platform looked polished. Easy to use. Smooth enough to build trust.

Then the withdrawal attempt came. According to one complaint, the user was told to pay tax first, then another penalty, while the account balance was frozen at 55,434.03396 USDT. Another user reported a frozen account amount of 71,822.36 USDT after being blocked from withdrawing.

This Luno review is not about a small service issue. Our investigation reveals a pattern of withdrawal obstruction, account freezing, and alleged platform name-changing around a broker with no verified financial regulation on record.

Luno Regulation Reality Audit: No Verified License Found

The first question is simple: who supervises this broker?

Our investigation found no confirmed financial regulator attached to Luno. The broker is listed as established in 2023 and headquartered in China, but no valid regulatory record was found in the available broker profile. Its WikiFX score is 1.78, its influence rank is E, and the risk notes include multiple exposure reports and a low platform rating.

That matters.

Regulation is not decoration. It is the protection layer traders need when a broker refuses withdrawals, freezes accounts, or changes rules after deposits arrive. Without a verified regulator, traders may have limited recourse if funds are withheld.

Is Luno Broker Safe? The Complaints Say Traders Hit a Wall

The most serious user reports focus on one issue: money going in, but not coming out.

In a complaint dated 2024-07-24 from Italy, a user said Lunos trading platform was well designed, attractive, and easy to operate. The user said the experience felt good after deposits and trading. But when they tried to withdraw, the process was allegedly blocked.

The user stated they were required to pay tax first. They said the tax could not be deducted from the account balance. After that, the user claimed another so-called violation fee was demanded. The account amount reported as frozen was 55,434.03396 USDT.

That is not normal customer friction. That is a severe red flag.

Another complaint dated 2024-06-28 described a similar pattern. The user said they registered on a platform impersonating LUNO, found the platform smooth and convincing, then faced a blocked withdrawal. They also said they were required to pay tax, communication failed, and the account was frozen. The reported frozen amount was 71,822.36 USDT, and the complaint listed the website as lunomte.xyz.

The broker profile lists a website at https://lunomte.cc/. The user complaint names lunomte.xyz. The presence of different domains in the surrounding reports should make traders extremely cautious.

Luno Login and Account Access Risks: Frozen Accounts Are the Emergency Signal

Login access is not just about whether a password works. For traders, account access means the ability to control funds, request withdrawals, and exit when risk rises.

Multiple users reported frozen accounts. One complaint dated 2024-12-12 said the account was frozen and withdrawals were not allowed. Another complaint dated 2024-08-28 said the account had been frozen for three months.

This is why the account-access issue is so serious. A trading screen can still appear functional. Customer service can still reply. But if the account is frozen and withdrawals are blocked, the trader is effectively trapped.

The pattern described by users is especially alarming because it combines access control with payment demands. First, the platform appears easy to use. Then the trader deposits. Then withdrawal becomes difficult. Then extra payments are requested. Then the account remains frozen.

No trader should ignore that sequence.

Luno Forex Review: The Alleged Small-Withdrawal Trap

One complaint dated 2024-07-29 described a method traders should know by heart: small withdrawals may be allowed, but larger withdrawals are blocked.

The user alleged that small top-ups could be withdrawn, but once a large deposit was made, withdrawal was refused. The same complaint also mentioned a promotional claim tied to a “one-year anniversary” deposit reward of 10%, calling it highly deceptive.

This is a classic pressure pattern in high-risk online trading environments. A small successful withdrawal can create trust. A bonus can create urgency. A polished interface can make the operation feel legitimate.

Then the larger deposit becomes the target.

In Forex and crypto-related trading spaces, traders often focus on spreads, leverage, signals, or profit screens. But the real test is withdrawal. If a broker cannot provide verified regulation and users report blocked withdrawals, the platform risk is already extreme.

Name-Change Allegations: Users Link Luno to ELLIPAL

Two complaints from Australia alleged that the platform changed its name to ELLIPAL while continuing similar operations.

The 2024-08-28 complaint said the account had been frozen for three months and alleged the platform changed names while continuing to target investors. The user also claimed the operation was impersonating legitimate platform companies.

The 2024-07-29 complaint also stated that LUNO had changed to ELLIPAL and continued operating in the same manner. These are user allegations, not confirmed regulatory findings in the broker profile. Still, traders should treat repeated name-change claims as a major caution signal.

Why? Because name changes can make public complaints harder to track. They can split search results. They can confuse victims looking for warnings. And they can allow a platform to approach new traders under a different identity.

Our investigation cannot verify from the broker profile that Luno and ELLIPAL are formally the same entity. But the repeated user reports make the allegation impossible to ignore.

Key Red Flags Traders Must Not Ignore

  • No verified financial regulation was found for Luno.
  • WikiFX records a low score of 1.78 and an E influence rank.
  • Users reported frozen accounts and blocked withdrawals.
  • Complaints alleged tax demands, penalty demands, impersonation, and name-changing activity linked to ELLIPAL.

These risks do not stand alone. They reinforce each other.

A low score is concerning. No verified regulation is worse. But when that is paired with multiple withdrawal complaints and frozen-account allegations, the warning becomes urgent.

The Verdict: Avoid This High-Risk Broker Until Proven Otherwise

Luno presents too many danger signals for retail traders.

The regulatory picture is empty. The user complaint pattern is serious. The reported frozen balances are large. The allegations include blocked withdrawals, tax-payment pressure, penalty demands, impersonation, and possible rebranding activity.

A broker that handles client funds should be able to show clear regulation, transparent ownership, reliable withdrawal procedures, and consistent account access. Luno does not meet that standard based on the available information.

If you are already exposed, do not send more money to unlock withdrawals unless you have independent professional advice. Save all records. Preserve chats, payment receipts, account screenshots, domain names, and withdrawal requests.

For new traders, the message is simpler: do not treat a polished platform as proof of safety. In the Forex market, the final proof is not the dashboard. It is whether you can withdraw your money without surprise demands or account freezes.

On the evidence available, Luno is a high-risk broker warning, not a safe trading choice.
