Blueberry Markets Gets UAE Category 5 Licence

Blueberry Markets has received a Category 5 licence from the UAE Capital Market Authority, allowing the forex and CFD broker to market its services and introduce eligible clients from the UAE to overseas group entities.

The authorization appears on the regulator‘s public register and is among the early approvals issued under the UAE’s revised capital-markets framework.

What the Category 5 Licence Covers

Category 5 is not a full brokerage licence.

The UAE entity cannot hold client funds, execute trades or provide custody services locally. Its role is limited mainly to marketing and client introductions, with trading accounts handled by a separately regulated entity outside the UAE.

Clients dealing with the broker should therefore check which legal company opens the account and which regulator supervises the trading relationship.

Licence Issued Under the New CMA Framework

The Capital Market Authority assumed the relevant responsibilities of the former Securities and Commodities Authority on January 1, 2026.

Existing licence holders have until January 1, 2027 to complete their transition, while new applicants enter directly under the CMA framework.

Blueberry Markets obtained its approval through the new system rather than through the transitional route.

Local Executive Appointed

The broker has appointed Gescard Abi El Hessen as Category Head for its UAE operation.

The position covers local responsibility for activities conducted under the Category 5 licence, including marketing, client communication and regulatory compliance.

A Limited Route Into the UAE Market

The licence gives Blueberry Markets a regulated presence in the UAE, but its scope remains narrow.

It allows the company to promote its services locally without establishing a full dealing or custody operation. The overseas entity receiving the client remains responsible for account administration and trade execution.

The distinction between the UAE marketing entity and the company holding the trading account is therefore central to understanding the licence.
