Helping flood victims in Kelantan, Malaysia

In December 2024, Malaysia suffered devastating floods that affected 10 states and left more than 147,000 people without roofs over their heads. Among the areas affected by the disaster, Kelantan was the hardest-hit state, with at least 93,000 people fleeing their flooded homes and seeking refuge.

To help the flood victims of Kelantan, Octa sponsored the provision of basic necessities, including food, drinking water, hygiene amenities, towels, pillows, blankets, and house cleaning tools.

'After this natural disaster, thousands of people were driven from their homes. Sometimes, they lacked even the most basic means to sustain themselves. This is why Octa's effort was a great help to our displaced members in enduring the floods', said Azeehan, Octa's partner in this project.

The 'I love reading' project, Indonesia

The 'I love reading' project promotes reading skills among primary school students in Indonesia, targeting one of the country‘s pressing issues: low literacy levels. The project’s overarching goal is to improve the childrens literacy level across the country.

To support this venture, Octa sponsored the 'Literacy festival', a series of activities that wrapped up the previous batch of work within the project. With more than 300 participants, the festival aimed to ensure that more Indonesian children could learn to read fluently and develop a love for reading as a result of the project.

Bali water protection project, Indonesia

Aimed at resolving Bali‘s ongoing water crisis, the Bali Water Protection project is designed to raise awareness and promote actionable solutions to the rapid deterioration of the province’s freshwater supply. Octa took part in this initiative to try to prevent possible water crises and improve the lives of local communities.

To promote this far-reaching social cause, Octa supported the World Water Forum in 2024. Octa's contribution included:

• organising talks and workshops involving experts and local communities

• hosting exhibitions showcasing art and innovations related to water protection

• providing facilities and logistics for participants and speakers.
