XAUUSD — Gold Sell-Off: What Happened and What to Watch Next
Gold has seen a sharp sell-off after breaking below the $4,275 area, with selling pressure accelerating much faster than expected.
The initial expectation was for Gold to move toward the $4,220–$4,180 zone and then possibly produce a short-term reaction. Instead, buyers struggled to respond, and price continued moving lower with strong bearish candles.
That lack of reaction around support is important. It suggests that sellers are still controlling the short-term structure, while buyers have not yet shown enough strength to reverse the move.
For now, $4,220–$4,200 remains an important area to watch. As long as Gold stays below this region, there isn't enough confirmation to call the current downside move a bullish reversal.
At the same time, chasing shorts after such a large drop can be risky. A sharp relief rally or consolidation can happen at any point, especially after aggressive selling.
What I'm watching next
$4,150–$4,100 is the next area where I would watch price action closely. The key question is whether Gold starts stabilizing there or simply continues making lower lows.
If price consolidates and then breaks lower again, $4,126 becomes another area to monitor on the downside.
On the other hand, if another strong sell-off attracts too many late sellers and price fails to continue lower, Gold could see a short-term recovery toward $4,150, with $4,170 as a possible next level if momentum strengthens.
That would not automatically mean the trend has turned bullish. It could simply be a temporary relief move before sellers return.
The main takeaway: after a move this aggressive, don't trade purely from FOMO. Let Gold build some structure first and watch how price reacts around the next major levels.
XAUUSD is moving fast — patience matters more than prediction here.
