The Indian government announced a massive rationalization in the Goods and Services Tax (GST), a month ago, to provide consumers much-needed relief with reduced prices. The implementation date for the same was today, i.e. September 22, 2025. The GST slabs, currently standing at 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, have been largely reduced to 5% and 18%. As a result, prices of daily-use items, healthcare products, and others have fallen significantly. As per the government release, the tax rationalization is expected to add INR 2 lakh crore to the economy.
